Surgery day

I'm still behind posting Christmas videos, but for now here are some photos from Poppy's surgery today. All went well, besides the vomit episode on her bed and Tilda's bed--she was actually released from the hospital quicker than we expected. Now to see how recovery goes.......

Saw our first movie in a theatre

At the Disney Family Museum in the Presidio. They were showing Sleeping Beauty--the girls did great after we got them to pipe down! Unfortunately the last 15 minutes Tilda took a huge poop so I had to wait to change her. Thankfully no one was sitting near us or it would have been a problem!

I wouldn't want to do movies out all the time, but at least I know it is a option or a treat on occassion!

hello everybody, I mean Old McDonald had a farm

Enjoying yummy organic ice cream

We found a great place to get organic ice cream made with cream from Strauss Dairy. So we took the girls last weekend, poor Tilly fell asleep in the car on the way there so we parked out front and sat on benches and enjoyed ice cream with Poppy while Tilly stayed in the car sleeping peacefully a few feet from us.

we have eggs!

I went out this morning and found 3 beautiful beautiful eggs. I made banana bread with some of them this evening. Can't wait to see what we have tomorrow morning. We are so proud of our ladies (the hens that is!)

Poppy sayings

Poppy makes us laugh every single today. Yesterday we bought her some new mammoth crocs for the winter and rain boots to wear to la piccola scuola. She tried them on when we got home (she can put on her shoes by herself for almost a year now), and of her crocs said "these are so comfortable" and of her rain boots "these are just perfect".

Scott and I giggle uncontrollable and wonder where she picks up all these words. Remember, they ONLY speak to her at preschool in Italian. No english is allowed! So it's not from her teachers!

Halloween day pix

I will follow with pix from Halloween night, but during the day the Randall Museum down the street from us has a HUGE Halloween festival, so we went there! We did pumpkin carving, the girls had a great time!

it's a miracle

at the party Tuesday night Scott and I spoke with Poppy & Tilly's awesome teacher Elisabetta. She told us a funny story. There is a cute little garden/herb garden at scuola. Poppy was outside last week and asked for some water so she could water the sage plant. Elisabetta got her some water and said Poppy lovingly touched the plant and said "it's a miracle". A couple of times so it was clear what she said. I honestly don't know where she gets this stuff. A miracle? True but still!

Disney on Ice in Oakland

it was the princess edition--note the matching sparkly princess shirts! Loved by the girls, was cute enough the 2 parents enjoyed it! Late night for everyone, didn't drop off cousin Sophie till around 10:45pm, so it was even later for our little ladies to make it into bed and on a preschool night!

Been posting on FB, but will try to keep this blog alive too!

Summer vacation is now a month behind us, but it was great. Looking forward to other colder holidays now! Girls are now enjoying school alot--and I'm enjoying the quiet time to work, and plan the 2010 LPSI fundraiser. Poppy is becoming a pretty good artist for not even being 3 years old, the drawing above is of a spider! The baby is their patient--they were being doctors and treating her. More like torturing her but I guess that is how it seems when they visit the pedi......
They also got their FIRST haircut on Thursday, just a trim, but hopefully we can get their hair in a little better condition, it's pretty long but curly and gets tangled on the ends. Will probably do another trim in a month. Thanks Babs! We did their growth chart today too, Poppy is 39", Tilly is 37"--such tall girls!
And they are sweet as pie those two! They tell all of us how much they love us, all the time. And ask for kisses, then if we forget, Hugs too!

All about Tilly

Fun times, water sports with the girls

they are finally old enough to do some things like canoeing and kayaking. we weren't sure if they would stay put (i.e. not tip the canoe) but after a few times of yelling and threatening to go back to the beach, they did really, really well. they were so good on the canoe, just sat and held their arms and hands over the edge of the canoe into the water. we were so proud that they listened so well, and are so adventurous! these girls will try almost anything--they love new and different things.
We also had a busy mama day today, Douglass playground in the morning, then Fritz in the mission for lunch, and then Moscone Rec center in the evening. San Francisco is such a small world, we saw twins Sarah and Hannah in the morning with their dad Casey, and Caleb and his nanny (from LPSI) in the afternoon in addition to meeting Babs and her 2 boys. I think I wore the girls out, I know I am tired. Wish I was 20 years younger!

4th of July pictures

We went to the Marin County Fair on the 4th, and rode rides, ate fair food, bought the girls HUGE chocolate ice cream cones and saw lots of cute animals!

I've been posting pix on Facebook

and neglecting my blog! But I thought I should add some here too. Poppy is constantly cracking us up. Last week she burped after dinner. When I asked her what happened she said "I farted in my mouth". Yesterday Cici asked her if she was a cookie, and she said "No, I'm a donut". These are some pix of our home celebration for Scott's 45th bday. On his actual birthday we went out for a grown up celebration without the kids!

We have chickens...

we have 2 chickens, Rhode Island Reds, and Scott is going to get some Americunas tomorrow. So we will have 4 baby chicks. We are assuming in the end we will have 3. Scott is building a big coop in the back corner of the yard, and we are looking forward to FRESH EGGS! We'll let everyone know how our urban chicken experiment goes.....
The girls are great, tomorrow is their last day of scuola till September. We are still unsure of how we are going to afford to pay their tuition, but if things are finally settled with my dad's estate we can use some of that income towards their tuition. It's steep--$12,000 for the 2 of them to attend Tu/Th 8:30am-12:3opm.
But they can sing in italian, and tilly can speak alot more than Poppy--she can say her colors, some numbers, etc. She really picked up on the language and will use english/italian interchangably. We love hearing her speak in italian!

another visit to Big Daddy

We were only in Florida for a few days, but we always find time to visit Big Daddy (photo directly above). The other pictures are a grave that is near dad's grave. It's a young man, who I believe committed suicide. The saddest thing about it is that it appears that he killed himself suddenly, with no warning signs. All his friends, his family have done a creative job with little trinkets and things around his grave. He was obviously very loved. As you can see, the girls love to run over and visit his grave and play with all the fun little things that decorate his grave.
