Afternoon at the Academy

This is such a great building--I don't even know what obscene sums of money were spent to renovate this building but the new Academy of Sciences in GG Park is amazing. Unfortunately, every time you want to go they are at capacity--and we are members so I'd like to go pretty regularly. I decided to go yesterday afternoon as a post-nap day trip (instead of meeting my friend Babs with her boys at the park) even though it was a beautiful day. We went into the butterfly enclosure (usually too crowded) visited all the tanks, and even made it into the play room. It was a great afternoon, the girls LOVE all the fish and other aquatic life.

talk talk talk

The girls have been talking for a long time. Even sometimes in sentences. Now they regularly talk in sentences, and suprisingly well put together ones. Of course Poppy's favorite saying is "Poppy's bag, Poppy's berries, Poppy's juice" etc. You get the idea, everything is hers, nothing is mine, Scott's or Tilly's. Poppy wants to do everything herself, she makes coffee for me, Scott and the nanny in the morning with our keurig--and even adds sugar and cream. She does the dishes sometimes. She helps fold clothes (not very well, but I encourage it), she wipes down the counters and will even clean the floors sometimes. She's quite a girl. We say that all the time, but until you have a kid like Poppy you don't REALLY know what it is like to share your life with a extraordinary human even if she is just child, a baby still really. Tilly, is Tilly. She is charming, beautiful, funny, adorable and always in a good mood. The mornings are always a little bit brighter when we open the nursery door in the morning and see Tilly. I can't explain it--she makes every day beautiful.

Big girls!

Our girls had their late 2 year well baby visit. We are always late on these things, I'm not sure why, I'll blame it on having multiples even though I think it has gotten so.much.easier since they were twinfants. All is well with our beautiful babes, stats are:

Matilda: height-34 1/2 inches, weight-25 lbs 3 oz
Poppy: height-36 1/2 inches, weight - 26 lbs 9 oz

Scott and I both swear they weight at least 30 lbs, but I guess we are wrong. I think they weighed 20 lbs at 11 months, so their growth has really really slowed down. But they continue to be average or super stars in their percentiles:

Matilda: 70th percentile for height, 43th percentile for weight.
Poppy: 97th percentile for height, 50th percentile for weight

Yes, we realize Poppy is a giant, she gets accused of being 3 all the time. In fact they both do but on occassion people think Poppy is 3 and Tilly is 2 and you should see their faces if we tell them they are twins. Gone are the days of the double snap n go when it was much more obvious.

For one of the last times probably, I got the "rock star" treatment walking through the pedi office waiting room which was pretty full, mostly of newborns. But all the parents looked up this time and I could hear whispers of "oh, look at the twins" "aren't they adorable". That is one thing alot of people don't tell you, is that even though twins are more common this day and age, you still feel like a bit of a rock star in public, people just can't get enough of them.

ps. just don't tell our pedi that we haven't done the blood draws ordered last March. We are hoping they have forgotten and we won't have to do blood draws until they are in college.
